Showtime Anytime App Ceases Operations Following Paramount+ Merger

Showtime Anytime is set to shutter its operations on December 14, 2023, marking the culmination of a merger with Paramount+.

Paramount recently notified Showtime customers paying through a TV provider about the imminent closure of the Showtime Anytime app.

For users maintaining subscriptions through a TV provider, the transition entails a shift in viewing dynamics. While Showtime subscriptions persist, accessing content now necessitates going through the respective TV provider.

This adjustment is a direct consequence of Showtime’s integration into the Paramount+ streaming platform.

Showtime Anytime App Ceases Operations Following Paramount+ Merger

Previously, Showtime operated as a standalone service on platforms like YouTube TV, costing subscribers $10.99 per month.

With the merger, Paramount+ offers a combined package at $11.99 monthly or $119.99 annually, providing access to both Showtime and Paramount+ content.

The Showtime Anytime app had been instrumental in allowing customers who paid through their TV providers to stream on-demand Showtime content across various supported devices.

Paramount officially confirmed the app’s impending shutdown earlier this year, and it is now executing this decision.

Paramount has issued a message on the Showtime Anytime website, stating, “Showtime Anytime will shut down on 12/14/23. However, your subscription via your TV provider will remain active. Contact them to learn about other ways to watch SHOWTIME.”

To ensure uninterrupted access to Showtime content through a TV provider, subscribers are advised to get in touch with their respective providers for more information on the transition process.

This development aligns with Paramount’s broader strategy, which includes the closure of several TV everywhere apps for channels like MTV, Paramount Network, and Nickelodeon.

The consolidation of services reflects the industry’s evolving landscape as streaming platforms seek to streamline offerings and enhance user experiences.
